Time Commitment: We are looking for a volunteer to lead a recurring Wednesday lunchtime outing (12p-2p) to the DuSable Black History Museum. The tour would start at the hostel (in the Loop) and you would take guests on public transit to enjoy the museum.
We are seeking a volunteer who can shadow on of our existing tours/outings as training, and lead guests on a cultural outing to experience the DuSable Black History Museum in Hyde Park.
The volunteer would meet guests at our hostel in the Loop, then take them on the CTA to the select area, where the volunteer would guide guests to a few select exhibits, or allow them to roam at their own pace.
Our tours include off-the-beaten track sites, minority-owned businesses that hostel guests can support and patron, and inclusion of historically underrepresented / diverse perspectives of the city.
Local volunteers offer a unique insider's perspective to our hostel guests. By leading walking tours, volunteers create the opportunity for hostellers to learn more about the historical and cultural relevance of the area and have a one on one encounter with a local expert.
We are looking for a volunteer to lead a recurring Wednesday outing 12pm-2pm starting at our hostel in the Loop and ending at the DuSable Black History Museum. Preference is a volunteer who can lead all Wednesdays in February, but we're open to a volunteer who can lead 2+.
After applying, the HI Chicago VEC (Volunteer & Engagement Coordinator) will contact you to schedule a video call to discuss more details of this opportunity.
